At the heart of the Texas Volunteer Firefighter Certification Program is the State Firemen's & Fire Marshalls' Association of Texas. The SFFMA encourages training, education and certification for all volunteers. The SFFMA founded and now supports and sponsors the world's largest fire training school, at Texas A&M University.

FirefighterCloseCalls.com was an idea born from The Secret List, an independent newsletter produced since 1998 in an effort to bring forward the issues involving injury and death to firefighters... often issues that are ignored, quickly forgotten or just not talked about.
